Cocktail Sauce, Recipe 2

I love Crosse and Blackwell seafood cocktail sauce. For the longest time every recipe I used for that kind of sauce has required lots of lemon juice. Yet when I read the label for C&B, lemon juice was not explicitly mentioned (unless it qualifies as "spices"). This recipe uses no lemon juice and tastes very much like ye olde C&B variety.

  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1 ½ tbsp prepared horseradish
  • 1 ½ tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • ¼ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp paprika
  • ¼ tsp celery seed, ground
  • ¼ tsp mustard seed, ground
  • 1 ½ tsp salt
  • 1 ½ tbsp sugar

Mix all ingredients together and chill at least 1 hour before serving.

For a smokier flavor to the sauce, I sometimes use smoked paprika.
